Garden gnomes have their beginning in Germany in the mid-1800s and are said to have grown to a population of 25 million in Germany today. At the time of World War ll, their popularity spread around the world, even to China.

Over the years, garden gnomes have become popular pranksters who suddenly show up in the strangest places, like a national art museum's classical art display. Other times they disappear, kidnapped and sent around the world on a mysterical (hysterically funny and mystical) journey.
